Learn how to properly extract major (and minor) teeth using tried-and-true techniques under the guidance of a veterinary dental specialist. You will review and practice the steps to performing a complete surgical extraction including:
- Regional nerve blocks
- Preoperative and postoperative radiographs
- Flap presentation
- Adequate bone removal to facilitate extraction
- Complete tooth removal
- Alveoplasty
- Tension-free surgical closure
Extraction challenges such as root tip retrieval and complications such as iatrogenic mandibular fracture, and when to perform crown amputations will also be discussed.
